ACTUATORS (SPEED)

GAC (Governors America Corp.) electronic speed actuators form a closed-loop management system in conjunction with an electronic speed control unit and a magnetic speed sensor to control the engine throttle quickly and precisely. Responding up to 200 times faster than mechanical throttles, these electromechanical units connect to the fuel control mechanism and adjust the fuel supply based on coil current. The system operates on the principle of a PID speed controller—such as the ESD series—continuously comparing the target speed with the instantaneous engine speed received from the magnetic sensor. By rapidly stabilizing engine speed during sudden load changes to prevent damaging power and frequency fluctuations, GAC actuators also improve fuel economy through linear movement tailored to full power requirements. Furthermore, they offer high system reliability thanks to their robust, maintenance-free construction and designs that protect against reverse battery polarity and voltage spikes.

GAC (Governors America Corp.) electronic speed control units ensure stable generator and engine performance by managing engine speed quickly and precisely. Utilizing analog or digital designs, these devices create a robust link between magnetic speed sensors and electric actuators. While the industry-proven analog ESD Series (specifically the ESD5111, ESD5500-II, and ESD5550 models) provides standard isochronous or droop control, the advanced digital EEG Series (EEG6500 and EEG7500) offers an LCD display, software-based fine-tuning, and CANbus J1939 communication support. Capable of adjusting fuel delivery 200 times faster than legacy mechanical components, these controllers support constant speed (isochronous) and droop operating modes while featuring built-in protection against reverse battery polarity, overcurrent, and voltage surges. Additionally, their auxiliary inputs facilitate easy load sharing and power synchronization with other generators.

GASEOUS FUEL IGNITION

Developed by Governors America Corp (GAC), the Gaseous Fuel and Ignition Management System (FIMS) integrates engine management into a single unit by combining the ICM200 Ignition Control Module with the AFR200 Air/Fuel Ratio Controller. Utilizing high-energy inductive spark ignition technology, the system provides full support for up to 8 cylinders in sequential mode and up to 16 cylinders in a wasted-spark configuration. Its integrated speed governor and SmartVU software enable the easy configuration of customized timing maps based on engine speed and load conditions. Fully compatible with both Hall-effect and variable reluctance camshaft and crankshaft position sensors, these modules can also operate independently of one another in the event of a failure. Through this advanced closed-loop fuel control and precise ignition timing, GAC maximizes combustion efficiency, ensuring full compliance with global emission standards.

LOAD SHARING MODULES AND SYNCHRONIZATION

GAC (Governors America Corp) load sharing modules and synchronizers are advanced control systems that enable multiple generators to operate in parallel safely and efficiently. Units such as the LSM201 load sharing module and the SYC-6714 synchronizer balance the distribution of active power (kW) among generators while maintaining a constant system frequency. The system supports both isochronous mode—where generators share the load equally—and droop mode, which allows engines of varying power ratings to operate in harmony. Thanks to advanced phase-matching capabilities, the system precisely aligns the AC phase angle and frequency of the incoming generator with the main bus, ensuring a smooth transition and preventing sudden shocks. Additionally, built-in forward and reverse power detection features prevent the generator from motoring, while a block load anticipation mechanism minimizes speed drops during sudden load applications. These systems can perform real-time power monitoring via standard 5-amp current transformers and integrate seamlessly with digital engine control units from various brands—such as Cummins or Woodward—using EAM series interface modules.

MAGNETIC SPEED SENSORS

GAC (Governors America Corp) magnetic speed sensors are robust industrial devices that detect engine speed by tracking the teeth of the flywheel gear. Operating without the need for an external power source, these sensors generate their own AC electrical signals entirely through magnetic induction. As each metal gear tooth passes the sensor tip, the internal coil creates electrical pulses, and the frequency (Hz) of the resulting signal directly corresponds to the engine's instantaneous speed. This critical speed data is transmitted to an electronic governor control unit to precisely monitor and control engine speed. Designed for demanding operating conditions, these products feature a stainless-steel threaded body to withstand high temperatures and severe vibrations. They are also available in a wide range of body lengths, with either imperial or metric thread options and various connector types to suit diverse mounting requirements.
